During 2009 a gentlemen visited out showroom inquiring as to whether we would be interested in purchasing a Morgan for restoration. The cars owner had started the restoration many years ago but sadly as he was getting a little older now was unable to complete the required work.
So in the autumn I contacted the owner to learn more. He had originally bought the car for his wife in 1962 from a Commander in the Royal Navy, Plymouth. His wife however did not have a driving licence so the car was never used.
An agreement was struck to purchase the car and we collected it in October 2009 from a Plymouth lock-up garage, where it had sat for the last 47 years on blocks and half stripped down.

Along with the car came a great number of boxes of parts, some of which were in fact nothing to do with a 1937 Morgan and much of the remainder were in such a poor condition they had to be disposed as they would not be of any use.
The car was brought to our workshops and following a search for a suitable carburettor and coil, a drop of fuel into the carb and despite having been idle for so many years the engine started almost immediately.
The 4/4 has now been stripped right down to the last nut and bolt and after a search a new chassis has been located. Extensive work is now being carried out on the engine which will include white metaling the main and big-end bearings. We also intend to fit hardened valve seats.

But inevitably there is a huge amount of spares still to be sourced to complete the restoration.
