Restoration of a 1937 Morgan Series One.

2 seater in blue. Fitted with a Coventry Climax engine and Meadows gearbox

During 2009 a gentlemen visited out showroom inquiring as to whether we would be interested in purchasing a Morgan for restoration. The cars owner had started the restoration many years ago but sadly as he was getting a little older now was unable to complete the required work.

So in the autumn I contacted the owner to learn more. He had originally bought the car for his wife in 1962 from a Commander in the Royal Navy, Plymouth. His wife however did not have a driving licence so the car was never used.

An agreement was struck to purchase the car and we collected it in October 2009 from a Plymouth lock-up garage, where it had sat for the last 47 years on blocks and half stripped down.

Along with the car came a great number of boxes of parts, some of which were in fact nothing to do with a 1937 Morgan and much of the remainder were in such a poor condition they had to be disposed as they would not be of any use.

The car was brought to our workshops and following a search for a suitable carburettor and coil, a drop of fuel into the carb and despite having been idle for so many years the engine started almost immediately.

The 4/4 has now been stripped right down to the last nut and bolt and after a search a new chassis has been located. Extensive work is now being carried out on the engine which will include white metaling the main and big-end bearings. We also intend to fit hardened valve seats.

Morgan Gathering at Powderham

A large number of Morgan Sports Cars were on display at Powderham Castle near Exeter over the weekend of 11th & 12th July 2009.

The 36th Historic Vehicle Gathering organised by the Crash Box & Classic Car Club in the estate grounds of Powderham Castle was the venue for a large group of Morgan cars to celebrate the 100th Centenary.

Though the weather late on Saturday did dampen spirits a little Sunday was a thoroughly enjoyable day with huge numbers of visitors.

Photos from the event will be published in our new gallery section soon but a couple from the weekend are shown here.

Berrybrook Morgan hired four Morgan Sports Cars to some French holiday makers touring the west country earlier in the year....

The following message was recieved via email from our happy customers

Hello Mark,

Time's going too quickly...but we often remember our nice week end in your country, overall when watching again and again the photos and the film..We have been welcomed as we hoped at Edgemoor, and we thank you deeply to have advised us this hotel, which was the best of our choices...We felt so well in this country, that we keep preciously the address. Our friends tell their adventure to many of their friends...

Here's a photo of all of us in front of Camelot Castle in Tintagel.
