Morgan Roadster (successor to the Morgan Plus 8)

Drive a Morgan sports car, and you drive the dream. The stunning new Morgan Roadster marks a new departure in sports car motoring while continuing a unique driving heritage.

The successor to the iconic Morgan Plus 8 sports car - the 3-litre V6 Morgan Roadster features the classic sweeping Morgan bodylines and the traditional, hand-made coach building that has always stood Morgan sports cars apart from the crowd.

From summer 2008, a number of significant improvements will affect all Morgan Roadster models. The updates to the car are as a result of a required engine change. This new unit will be Euro IV compliant, and we have taken the opportunity to upgrade a number of items on the car to improve build efficiency, quality and visual impact.

From the outside, the new Morgan Roadster looks almost indistinguishable from its illustrious predecessors such as the Morgan Plus 8 sports car. However, the marriage of the much-loved Morgan chassis with Ford's latest lightweight 3 litre, 24 valve V6 engine technology - specially mapped to the Morgan Roadster, has produced a stunning sports car with superb balance and performance figures that challenge most other sports cars in its class. The new Series II version has a different air intake and injection system which deliver lower emissions and even smoother running.

With a low centre of gravity and near perfect weight distribution from the engine being placed well back from the front axle, the new Morgan Roaster is very easy to place on the road and has a very good turn in. The Roadster is fantastic to drive on the road, and makes an excellent track day car too.

The principal visual difference between the old and the new Roadsters relates to the dashboard. Using a similar layout to the 70th Anniversary, and incorporating a more traditional raked angle, we have returned to white on black dials. We are also using the 3 in 1 dial for water temp., oil pressure and fuel level. The standard dash will be covered in the same material as the seats, and we will offer a walnut alternative which includes a glove box lid as a cost option. In a bid to improve driver comfort and safety, the heater and fan controls move up to the centre of the dashboard.

Morgan have taken their time to develop this car, and the results have certainly been worth the wait. The Roadster is quite simply going to blow people's socks off. It's the perfect antidote to all that's bland in modern motoring, and will deliver more fun per mile than anything else on the road - except perhaps another Morgan sports car.

The all new Series II Morgan Roadster is available to order now for delivery within 12 months. Price £34,991.50 inc VAT.

All new Morgan cars are built in the factory and ordered with either left or right hand drive.
